The Meaty Truth...

Writer's picture: The Kosher KingThe Kosher King

Things have been changing rapidly as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to lead us down paths we've never walked before. The impact of what's already happened has been far reaching leaving a path of destruction in its wake but also new avenues of opportunity.

As the times have changed so have our buying practices as we see a rise in the cost of everyday items. Some of the things we used to take for granted have now become like gold. From toilet paper and soap to yeast and flour, we've really had to make adjustments we never thought we'd see in our lifetime.

Amongst the rising costs you may have noticed quite a leap in the price of meat. I know many of my followers have been shocked to see how much they'll be paying at the cash out for a steak. While we have made adjustments to how we make purchases, the time has come to shop smart when it comes to meat because there are retailers out there who are offering fantastic prices even amidst price hikes and shortages.

Shipping delays have been a major contributing factor to availability but those issues have begun to taper off and now, even with a vast assortment available, prices of meat at some retailers have remained unreasonably high.

So, what's the most cost effective way to continue supplying your household with your meaty faves?

1) Shop around!

Take note of prices and compare to other retailers so you know you're getting the best deal.

2) Order in.

There are many small retailers offering better prices than the big box stores often with delivery options included to make your shopping experience that much safer and easier.

3) Change your buying habits

Of course it's more convenient to just grab whatever you need all from one store but the difference in the price of meat can be enough to steer you away from that long loved practice. Especially with options for delivery, you can save a lot of money and access products not readily available in the big retail stores.

Kosher meat is historically expensive but there are ways to adjust your buying habits so that you can still enjoy it without breaking the bank.

Take care of yourselves and each other,
